ZAKR – the Polish Authors and Composers Association - was founded in 1946 by a group of songwriters to promote the development of the most popular artistic genres, such as song, cabaret and musical. Its first members were such famous artists as Tuwim, Sygietyński and Szpilman. At present, the Association counts over 600 members in two sections and represents them in all contacts with authorities and other institutions involved in the development of the field.
ZAKR publishes songs and instrumental music in two editorial series: Dance Music (combo scores) and Zlote Przeboje (piano scores of Polish evergreens).
The international festival of Polish songs MALWY has been organised by ZAKR for twenty years now. The 21th edition will take place in August 2012.
